Care for diabetic and traumatic wounds, including infection and Charcot, with the goal of keeping the leg.
Dr. David Heath spent 11 years in the Wound Healing Center at Memorial Pembroke. Dr. Liliana Heath spent 8.
Venous ulcers, diabetic foot infections, Charcot, and post-traumatic wounds are treated with the goal of saving the limb. Surgery, including amputation, is discussed when it is the remaining option.
He completed Ilizarov training in Kurgan, Russia, for external fixation — a method used when bone, soft tissue, and infection have to be managed together.
